After decades of the world's most intense arms race and centuries of weaponry escalation, this unusual phenomenon represents a historic turnaround.

Thousands of years ago, when the prophet Isaiah foresaw the Messianic age, it sounded too good to be true. This famous prophecy is engraved in the wall of the United Nations: "They shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears." (Isaiah 2:4) But these dramatic words rang hollow during the Cold War.

For a very long time, it seemed more like wishful thinking than even a remote reality. Today, thank G-dness, it is an established international effort in the right direction.

Our world is no paradise, yet. Unfortunately, war still rears its ugly, threatening head in a number of places around the globe, including Israel in the Middle East.
