Aye, Aye, Oy vey!
Please don’t confuse me, with a silly cartoon,
In nautical nonsense, from midnight ‘til noon,
Far more than just being, yellow and porous,
It’s Purim and joyous, so join in my chorus!
Spongespoof Purimdance!
Spongespoof Purimdance!
This is a masquerade, it is no surprise,
How do you like my Purim disguise?
So why waste time in curtains of bubbles,
Let’s act now to stop Haman’s big troubles!
I’d rather turn groggers, than patties on a griddle,
I prefer regular pants, that won’t rip in the middle.
Purim is no joke, so let’s do its Mitzvos right,
We’ll knock Haman cold, with power and light!
It’s ok to be different, and so I do dare,
To be triangular shaped, instead of just square.
Rather than have empty holes in my head,
I’m chock full of jam, or poppy seeds instead.
We’re not all just cookie cutter made, though,
Some of us come from a very different dough.
Yet each feels kneaded, with a mission and a goal
We all fulfill a purpose, and play a special role.
I’m the smart cookie type, and I love the crust,
‘Though as the cookie crumbles, I turn to dust.
My plump and puffy friend rises with the yeast,
Together we grace, Purim’s food gifts and feast.
Outer styles vary, it’s our claim to fame,
But deep inside, we’re all one and the same.
We’re both jam packed, with lots of yummy,
The way to the heart, is through the tummy!
So why remain stuck, deep beneath the sea,
If I can carry my pineapple anywhere with me!
In my basket I bring gifts, from door to door,
Sharing unity and love, what good friends are for!
Instead of bobbing around, chasing a wave,
I bring cheer and joy, from all those who gave.
I go around town, house to house all day,
Offering treats, from my Shalach Manos tray.
So why suffer and fry, at Squid’s crabby place,
Just so greedy ol’ Grabs wins his money race?
I’ll treat everyone free to a grand Purim feast,
And also give charity to the poor, two at least!
Persia’s Haman, was wicked and mean,
But G-d saved us, through Esther the Queen!
Today’s modern Hamans, still plot and scheme,
All the bad stuff around, can make you scream!
As much as we work, and humanly try,
We need lots of help, from the One on High.
Even when wicked Haman, our lot did cast,
Mordechai rallied us, to survive and outlast!
So don’t lazy on deck, and flop like a fish,
Rush out right now, to deliver a dish,
Hear the Megillah, absorb each word,
Recall the miracles, let our prayers be heard!
Thank you for singing, along these lines,
I hope you liked, my few little rhymes.
May the Redemption soon, set us all free,
When Torah will flow, as waters cover the sea!
